Dating someone at work

Hi, I’ve committed one of the biggest professional don’t’s: I’ve started dating someone I work with.

I’ve checked the HR manual and the only mention of relationships in the workplace is that you can’t be the manager of someone that you are related to or romantically involved with, and neither is the case with us.

Work-based relationships aren’t always superficial and it is almost inevitable that at some point in your career you’ll develop a crush on someone at work.

And when coworkers eventually find out, you may be the subject of ridicule and suspicion: If you want people to focus on your professional abilities, don't give them reasons to fuel the rumor mill.If you sit together in the company cafeteria, will people now feel they should give you privacy? The most common cliché is that of the boss with his secretary but there are many other examples of work-based relationships, from the snog at the Christmas party to getting frisky in the supplies cupboard. But sometimes, that's way easier said than done — especially if your job requires you to spend long hours and tight cubicles with the same person.Tempting (and steamy) as it may be, it can also turn out to be super awkward and traumatic — something we all saw unfold on the first season of 1. Like in the "think about it for a few extra days" way, not in the literal sense.
